I always thought that the best way to learn is through an actual project.
My computer is full of unfinished projects although now and again some
evolve into something more meaningful. Now it's time to start filling
up that hardrive full of AIR goodness. Enter FLVPlayer.
I messed about with Apollo. I didn't even scratched the surface to be honest. Since the AIR Beta was released I have been quite excited as
this time the runtime stepped up to some of the features we only read
about previously. I like applications. They serve a purpose. They make
the everyday life of people working with computers easier and sometimes
even fun. Fun is such a lame word I know but I couldn't think of
anything better.
There
are loads of FLV Players out there, and good ones too. I am not trying
to build an application that would be used by millions of users.
Instead all I want is a nice little project that would test all of the
core basics of building an AIR app. But most of all, I wanted to use
the Cairngorm Micro-architecture. I've been looking into this the last
couple of weeks and I really like what I have experienced.
Enough
"creative writing". Here is the link. I will be making updates and add
more features so be sure to check for updates from within the app.
Currently here are some of the issues in version 0.4:
- Double clicking on an .flv file launches the player but doesn't play the video
- Preferences functionality disabled
- Sometimes opening a file and then getting info results to duration: -1
- Generate HTML disabled
- Feedback disabled
- Help disabled
